Week 2 - Quarantine

This week I will be talking about my 14-day quarantine experience in Hong Kong. I will also share some tips to survive your time in quarantine.


From the get go, Hong Kong has great systems in place to get you from the airport to your designated quarantine hotel (hence the picture below), so dont stress too much about this. Whats important is to make sure you have ALL of your essential documents requested by the Hong Kong government. You can see the essential documents here on their website (https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/inbound-travel.html). From the airport you will be shuttled to your quarantine hotel.



Choosing Your Hotel

When it comes to choosing your quarantine hotel, check out the most recent designated quarantine hotel list (this list is updated every cycle). I would recommend:

  1. Avoiding the cheapest hotels and spending a little bit more for a higher quality hotel. The cheaper hotels typically have horrible food, rooms, and service.

  2. Checking out each hotels trip advisor reviews.

    • Make sure they have good food, employee's, and internet connection.

  3. Booking as soon as you get your Visa to avoid fully booked hotels.

  4. Sharing a quarantine hotel with a friend.


Quarantine Survival

Quarantine was honestly more stressful then I thought. Being isolated in a room alone was tolling on my mental and physical health. However, my stay at Dorsett Tsuen Wan made it more bearable. My quarantine room was comfy, the staff were friendly, and the food was pretty good.


Helpful tips for you upcoming quarantine:

  1. Food portions were tiny... so bring a-lot of snacks!

  2. Keep in touch with family and friends.

  3. Develop habits to keep your spirit up (look at old photos, meditation, working out).

  4. Bring a yoga matt and some workout bands.

  5. Catch up on some old hobbies (painting, books, movies, Netflix).
